Sort by Contents.m

By default, M-files in the current directory are listed in alphabetical order. To instead list them as they are ordered in the Contents.m file for the directory, select the Sort by Contents.m check box and click Refresh. A Contents.m file is a file you create that contains the filename and a brief description for M-files in the directory. When a user types help followed by the directory name, such as help mydemos, MATLAB displays the Contents.m file, effectively providing an overview of the files in the directory.

The Contents Report is a tool to help you create and maintain Contents.m files. You can create and edit Contents.m via the links in the Visual Directory, edit Contents.m, and run contentsrpt, or via the Directory Reports. For more information about the Contents Report and Contents.m file, see the Directory Reports documentation for Contents Report.
