Desktop Tools and Development Environment Upgrade Issues
The issues involved in upgrading from MATLAB 7.0.1 to MATLAB 7.0.4, in terms of Desktop Tools and Development Environment features, are discussed below.
Startup and Shutdown
- MATLAB is now using Java (JVM) 1.5 on Windows, Linux (32-bit), and Solaris platforms. Java is supplied with MATLAB. This change requires no action on your part.
Desktop
- All confirmation dialog box preferences are now part of the new preference panel General -> Confirmation Dialogs. For more information, see the topic Confirmation Dialogs in the Desktop Tools and Development Environment documentation.
Help for MATLAB
- To get help for a subfunction, use
- The Release Notes sections "Major Bug Fixes" and "Known Software and Documentation Problems" no longer include the content in the installed help files. Instead the sections provide links to these lists on the MathWorks Web site. The lists on the Web site can be updated after the release date to reflect the latest information.
Source Control Interface
- The name of the project in the source control system is no longer required to exactly match the name of the directory on disk containing the files.
- There is a new source control interface feature for Windows platforms, Register Project with MATLAB. In previous releases, this feature was part of the Add to Source Control feature. See a description in Source Control Interface section in New Features.
Publishing
- Publishing to LaTeX now respects the image file type you specify in preferences rather than always using EPSC2-files.
- The Publish image options in Editor/Debugger preferences for Publishing Images have changed slightly. The changes prevent you from choosing invalid formats.
- The files created when publishing using cells now have more natural extensions. For example, JPEG-files now have a
.jpg
instead of a .jpeg
extension, and EPSC2-files now have an .eps
instead of an .epsc2
extension.
- Notebook will no longer support Microsoft Word 97 starting in the next release of MATLAB.
