Further Details About the Windows Print Dialog Box

Properties: Click to invoke the Windows Document Properties dialog box. The Document Properties dialog box enables you to make printer-specific settings and override some current figure settings, such as orientation, paper size, and whether your plot is printed in color or black and white. For example, if you use Page Setup to set the orientation to "landscape", Document Properties will initializes its orientation setting to landscape. One exception is for the "rotated" orientation setting. If you previously set the orientation to rotated, you need to set it again in the Document Properties dialog box. Note that Document Properties does not provide a setting for rotated orientation if the selected printer does not support it.

Changes made to the settings for orientation, paper size, and color versus black-and-white printing are saved with the figure. For complete information about using this dialog box, please see your Windows documentation.

Print to file: Select this option if you want to save the figure to a file that can be printed later. If this is selected, when you click OK, a standard Windows Print to File dialog box appears.

Enter a filename (and pathname, if desired) and click OK. The file you create has no extension name, unless you specify one. Note that the file is specific to the printer that was selected when you created the file. Printing it to another printer may create unexpected results.
