Further Details About the Lines and Text Tab
Black and white: Select this check box to force all line and text objects in the figure to print in black and white. This is recommended for use with black and white printers because when colored lines and text are dithered to gray by a black-and-white printer, it does not produce good results for thin lines and the thin lines that make up text characters. When you select this setting, the lines and text are printed all black or all white, depending on the background color. (Note that your background color may not be the same as what you see on the screen. See the Axes and Figure tab for an option that preserves the background color when printing.)
Color (don't convert): Select this option to print your text and solid colored lines in the same color as they are on the screen. This is selected by default. If you are using a black and white printer and select this option, all of your text and solid colored lines are converted to shades of gray.
Figure placement on paper: Use as a preview of your printed figure or as a means to interactively change its size or position. Changes you make to the size and position of the box that represents your figure are shown on the Size and Position tab.
